Name: Detective Sergeant (DS) Gary Swift
Nicknames/Aliases: Gary
Gender: Male
Age: 42
Birthday: 1 November
Major Arcana Tarot: 7 - The Chariot
Race: Human -- almost.
Hand: Forced Right
Status: Divorced
Occupation: Detective Sergeant, Port Police, South Precient. Moonlights as a demonologist/demon hunter with more holy weapons than the Vatican.
General Description: 153 centimeters tall (5"), 80kg (175 pounds). Caucasian, some Euasian in the eyes. Blue eyes, sandy-blond hair that could be greying, kept short but has that perpetual "almost time for a haircut" look. Built like a boxer. Sports a Fu Manchu, like his hair, always seems just about ready for a trim.
Clothes: Off-duty he wears cargo pants and a snug-fitting tee-shirt with the occasional flannel shirt and hiking boots. On-duty he dresses neatly and practically, although the style can vary from off-duty wear to formal suit and tie; shoulder holster under left arm: service pistol is a Glock 22.
Telltale Marks: Stylised Celtic chain around his right bicep; Ornate cross between shoulderblades. No piercings.
Quirks: Signature demon-fighting gun is a Taurus Model 44 with a crucifix wrapped around its butt and intricate etchings on the barrel which are detailed holy seals. Very Catholic. Used to be a smoker (actually, he, Cade, and Jake all smoked at one time; Jake's the only one who hasn't kicked the habit.) His abilities rely on seals based on the Keys of Solomon and Golden Dawn-based alchemic formulae, but in a pinch, brute force works nicely.
Personality: "Just the facts, ma'am", by the book detective; wants to solve cases in the most plausible way possible. Reluctant to return to his "holy avenger" (as Cade puts it) days, but keeps finding himself unable to pull himself fully into the mundane world, especially when his Captain throws him the "unnatural" cases.
Idea Pool: Gary and Cade have a very bizarre relationship, to the point Gary isn't afraid to put a gun to Cade's head and pull the trigger if needed; however, they do refer to one another as very good friends. They have no problem with beating the snot out of one another, then go down to the pub for a pint afterwards, which is why Kasey and Gary do not get along too well.Gary develops a protective fatherly stance with Wulfie toward the end of the first book. He's Jackson's mentor and partner.
