General Description: Varies depending on what form Asbeel takes. As Cade, Chalybs manifests as two pewter-coloured chain link bracelets without clasps around Cade's wrists; if one would run a hand down Cade's spine, one will feel what appears to be pins and a plate in the mid-lumbar region.As Asbeel, Chalybs manifests as a large stake fashioned into a sword (nonsentient) and a length of chain (sentient.) The further Asbeel gets to his True form, the more prominent Chalybs becomes, hindering movement.

  1. 1st Manifestation: pewter chains around wrists, four staples in lower back.

  2. 2nd Manifestation: same as 1st; lengths of chain tend to wrap themselves around host's arms, legs, waist.

  3. 3rd Manifestation: host's wings are tethered, pierced around the humerus (upper arm bone) negating flight. Plate in host's back is now clearly visible.

  4. 4th Manifestation: All six wings (well, five wings and a stump) are tethered, making it very hard to move them. Chalybs has also infected host's halo, creating a chained void.

  5. 5th Manifestation: Roll your insanity check--made it? The only way Asbeel can ascend this far is if either an Imperium Elohim or a high-ranking Liberatus forces him into his True Form -- in which Chalybs has fully incapacitated Asbeel.

Quirks: Has a strong love-hate relationship with its host.

Personality: Very child-like but angry and, even if it communicates, it's usually in emotions, and even then it's only to Asbeel.

Idea Pool: Chalybs NEVER interacts with the humans and lilin of the story. However, it shares Asbeel's hatred toward Belial, and can go out of Asbeel's control if the Liberatus is concerned. Also, it seems as though it enjoys tormenting Rani for some reason Cade cannot fathom, which only further frustrates the host.
